What is chemical bond?

Answer:A chemical bond is defined as the attractive force that holds two or more atoms together in a molecole or an ion
(a) why do atoms combine?
Answer:by a close study of atoms and molecules it has been found that atoms combine chemically for the following reasons:
1. Net attaractive force between atoms
2. Octate rule or rule of eight
3. Lowering of energy of combining atoms.

Types of bond:
We have the following four types of bonds which hold the atoms together in a molecule.
(1) Ionic or electrovalent bond:
(2) Covalent bond
(3) Co-ordinate bond
(4)Metalic bond

all these four bonds are called strong bonds. There are , however attaractive interactions between the atoms which are comparatively weaker than the bonds mentioned above. These weaker interactions are called weaker bonds. In these bonds the bonding atoms do not lose their identity. These weaker bonds are of the following types:
(1) Hydrogen bond
(2) Vander walls bond or interactions.
What is polarisation of ions?
Answer: the ability of a cation to polarise a nesrby anion is called its polarisation power or polarising ability and the tendency of an anion to get distorted or polarised by a cation is called its polarisability.

What is Vanderwaals force?
Answer: Vander walls forces are very short-lived intermoleculer attaractive forces which are belived to exist between all kinds of atoms, molecules and ions when they are sufficiently close to each other.
Maximum covalency: Maximum covelency of an element may be defined as the maximum number of covalent bonds formed by that element. For the maximum covalency of P,S, and Cl atoms is 5,6, and 7 respectively.

Covalency: the velancy of an element in a covelent compound is called its covalency.Covalency of an element in a covelent compound is equal to the number of electrons contributed by one atom of it in the shared or linking electron pairs.
Aufbau principal; aufbau is a jarman word which means build up or construction.
“the orbitals are filled up with electrons in the increasing order of their energy.
